I’ve been in the business for at least 19 years. From my humble beginnings as a makeshift photographer for my family on special gatherings and occasions, my hobby flourished into what it is now. Whether by the grace of God, sheer dogged will, or a combination of both, I made my hobby into a profession. My first stint was with my mentor, Ms. Irene H. Aclan. She convinced me to open up a photography business back in 1991. The studio lasted for at least 3 years, and finally came to a close on December of 1994. I expected my hobby to die together along with my first studio, but I was surprised to find out it wasn’t. Come next year, I opened my own studio, Portraits and Motions, later renaming it into what it is today; MIKS Portraits and Weddings Company. My first forays into Digital Photography were not without screw ups. Realizing that my home study course from NYIP (New York Institute of Photography) back in 1996 wasn’t going to be enough, I enrolled myself into digital photography training seminars and workshops, like the Adobe Photoshop and Photography seminars. In 2004, I joined the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) in order to broaden my horizons, as they say. At the end of the day, things like studios are temporary. Names and reputations can be made, and undone, in a blink of an eye. Current knowledge becomes obsolete with time. What really kept me in the business was not my studio. It wasn’t the hard-earned reputation. It isn’t even the knowledge and experience that came with it. It was my passion for photography. That’s all there was to it. email: litoalbriones5353@yahoo.com DJ + LANY WEDDING / MANILA, PHILIPPINES ![]()
